Hairline Crack Iphone 6s Warranty Registration
Should I take it in? There is no apple store near me, only a place called simplymac about an hour and a half away (which is supposed to be like an apple store). I've never had to deal with cracks, so I don't know if it could potentially spread or what. As it is, it's not a big deal, but like I said, I'm worried about it spreading. I do not have the money to pay for a new screen, but I saw somewhere that hairline cracks were covered under warranty. I wish I could take better pictures, but my picture-taking device is what needs to be photographed.

The day it cracked that afternoon I was using it with apple fitness plus to do exercise. That time everything was still fine. Later evening I opened the screen protect cover saw a hairline. In the beginning I thought was hair on the screen tried to get rid of it. Then I found out the screen cracked! I even didn't know how did it happen?! It's just cracked! Unbelievable! Then I started to check with apple support if I can repair the screen. Turned out my iPad warranty was expired. I don't know if I should repair the screen if it would cost me a new iPad price. I just wonder how could the screen crack by itself? Is it supposed to be apple quality issue? And if apple has this issue why I have to pay for repair fee! I suggest Apple should take a good look of this screen cracked issue.
Finally, if your phone is still under warranty and the crack in your screen is just a hairline (single line) crack, Apple may replace your screen for free, because in certain cases it considers hairline cracks (without any obvious sign of drop impact) to be indicative of defective glass. You can check your warranty status on Apple's website.
If you're going to have someone else fix your device, Apple is probably your best choice: the repair is inexpensive and won't void your warranty (in fact, Apple will extend your warranty from that day by 90 days). Plus, if you can get into an Apple store, you may be able to convince the Genius Bar to fix your phone for free (even if there's more than one hairline crack). Assuming you can make a timely Genius Bar appointment, it takes Apple about an one hour to replace your screen.
There are typically two types of broken iPhone 6s screens: ones that are completely shattered and ones that just have minor hairline fractures. It's usually easy to tell when the screen is completely shattered, as the cracks will probably cover the entire face of the phone.
If you choose to have your cracked iPhone 6s screen repaired, you have a couple of good options. The first place you'll want to consider is Apple, especially if your iPhone 6s is still covered by an AppleCare+ warranty. Apple should be able to repair the screen for a very low cost.

Click to enlargeDebris under the display glass, a pixel anomaly, FaceTime camera foam misalignment, and a single hairline crack to the front glass are all problems that Apple will fix under warranty, even if there's additional accidental or liquid damage to the device. These are the only issues that can be fixed automatically even with additional damage to a device.
Apple will provide out-of-warranty replacements for liquid damage confirmed by the user, evidence of corrosion, LCD fractures, camera damage from lasers, cracks at a point of impact, damaged Lightning/audio/microphone components, extreme abrasion or puncture holes, and a bent or split enclosure.
The only problems definitively covered by an Apple warranty include broken pixels, debris under the display glass, misaligned FaceTime camera foam, and/or a hairline crack on the front glass unaccompanied by any other cracks, the guide indicates. The last point is an improvement from 2014, when people were still expected to pay.
lkrupp said: Why do they need these guidelines? Because people will lie through their teeth about how an expensive piece of hardware came to be broken. The Apple discussion forums are full of, "I didn't do anything and I take very good care of my device. The next day there was a deep scratch on my screen and I know I didn't put i there."When I worked in the Apple Store I used to hear all sorts of amazing ways that iPhone displays were broken. "It fell on the grass from just a couple of inches!" "I dropped it onto soft carpeting while on my couch and it was in a case." Those are real examples and people would stick to their stories. Same goes for liquid damage. "The phone has never been near water, how could it get wet?!?" My answer was always that I couldn't determine how it got wet, only that there was evidence of liquid contact. I also heard the "It must have been from the steam in my bathroom while showering. I guess I shouldn't even bring this phone into the bathroom at all if it's so sensitive it will stop working from steam!!"Single hairline cracks have been covered for a long time, as long as there is no obvious point of impact. The reason technicians don't refer to the VMI that often is because they learn it. Once you know it why keep checking? Of course, Apple is continuously updating the VMI, so what they know this month may be changed next month, which is why they SHOULD check it, but the major things don't change all that often.

The next protective feature that caught my eye and has gone on to amaze me, was the scratch-proof, impact-resistant, flexible, tempered glass screen protector that the Wetsuit Impact has built in. Let me put it this way; over the course of the past year, I've carried my iPhone many miles in my pocket, with it rubbing up against lip balm, or keys or random nuts and bolts, and there is still not a scratch. I've also dropped my Impact encased iPhone more times than I have a right to expect any case to survive intact; and not only has my iPhone remained unscathed, the Wetsuit Impact case itself has also fared extremely well. In fact, about a month ago, after what must have been hard-concrete-drop number 36, the case finally developed a hairline shatter in the upper right corner of its screen. The fracture is barely visible and only if you hold it up to the light just right. And thanks to the screen's unified, specially coated, tempered nature, a hairline crack can remain just that, without spreading and without shards of glass falling off your iPhone case. In fact, (I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but it's important to share as it speaks to the endurance and integrity of this case) I have managed to drop my iPhone onto pavement and concrete at least four times since the initial hairline shatter first appeared, and the shatter has gotten no worse, at least not visibly. 350c69d7ab
